Greatful & Thankful

Have you ever looked at a Poppy flower that blows in the wind? They are tall and somewhat sturdy flowers that move and sway. Their long green stem keeps them upright and yet they still bow to the wind and pop back up again. The bright redness of the pedals long to bring joy to anyone who pays notice of them. They are such understated flowers and unique in their own way.

When you take the simple Poppy and you add it to one of my favorite words Balter (n. To dance gracelessly, without particular skill, but perhaps with enjoyment.) you get the best decription of, well, me.

Since we are on the topic of me, I’ve got the laundry list of typical girl cliche attributes: late bloomer, the fat friend, daddy issues, second child syndrome, etc. yady, yady, yada! This is not a pity party folks(anymore anyways!) its a list of imperfections that make me who I am, amongst other things. But the awesome thing is I’m not perfect nor have I ever been. Im am perfectly unique and I take joy and comfort in that. I look back on life and laugh, because quite frankly its funny. I think I would be a billionaire by now if I had a camera crew following me around like the Kardashians. I’m certain we all have our entertaining sides of our life, but do we ever stop to look back, look around and just laugh? I’m serious, look at the irony, look at the arguments you had with past relationships or when you were a teenager and you thought your world was ending due to your sibling got a better car than you or you didn’t get to go to that party everyone else did. Now, is there anything we can look at now that seems so hard and when we stand outside of ourselves we can laugh at or at least smirk? Umm, yeah. I don’t know about you but when I do that, everything seems to get lighter. I realize how crazy blessed I am and how much mercy God has had upon me and those I love. I will leave you here with this one last though for you to digest:

With a grateful and thankful heart we can banish selfishness and negativity.
